The
global recession is more accentuated in states like Kerala, which
have been front-runners in terms of exporting human resources
to other countries. Remittances from the Gulf are seen declining
and laid off NRKs are returning. A discernable trend evident now
is the return of migrant workers to their homelands. Government
of Kerala is taking steps to have a correct assessment of the
situation and to evolve strategies to deal with the problem.
The state
government have decided to make a reliable data bank of Keralites
returning from overseas, particularly from gulf countries for
formulating policies for their reintegration. This database
would help the government to evolve suitable strategies for
the productive rehabilitation of the returned Non Resident Keralites.
As part
of the data collection Norka-Roots opened registration through
the website www.norkaroots.net. We request all the Non-Resident
Keralites returning from abroad due to job related issues, to
register their details through online or by using the downloadable
form given in this site.
